HKSPC Launches Free “Post-Disaster Children and Family Healing Programme”
to Provide Emotional Support Services after Tai Po Wang Fuk Court Fire
(Hong Kong, 11 December 2025) - The Hong Kong Society for the Protection of Children (HKSPC) feels deeply for the families affected by the devastating fire at Wang Fuk Court in Tai Po. Immediately after the incident, we have already implemented a series of emergency support measures - we have reached out to all students and families of HKSPC’s Lam Woo Nursery School in Tai Po expressing our profound concern and support. We have also provided the community with emergency childcare services and extended service hours to ensure affected families receive timely support and care, with our clinical psychologists deployed to provide consultation and play therapy for children in need.
The tragedy has caused grave grief and lasting impact to affected families, children, and society in general. At this difficult time, HKSPC wishes to strengthen our ongoing support for service users and has introduced, in steps, an initial three-months ‘Post-Disaster Children and Family Healing Programme’. The Programme provides for free lectures, play therapy and art therapy to any children aged 1-12, and their parents, across Hong Kong, in particular families affected by the fire. It aims to help them process emotions and heal in a secure environment, guiding children to release stress, rebuild parent-child bonds, and restore psychological well-being. Approximately 900 families are expected to benefit from the Pprogramme.
As always, the road to recovery will be long. HKSPC remains steadfast in its commitment to contribute by assisting affected children and families to gradually heal and move forward.
The Programme is jointly promoted by multiple HKSPC service units, with support from registered play therapists and professional clinical psychologists. Details are as follows:
