Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) is a common respiratory virus affecting toddlers in Hong Kong that significantly threatens their health:
- Highly Contagious: RSV infections can occur throughout the year with no distinct seasonal pattern. Over 90% of toddlers under two years old have been infected with RSV.
- Rapid Disease Progression: RSV infection carries a hospitalisation risk 16 times higher than influenza in infants and young children. It is also the foremost cause of hospital admissions among infants under one year old.

Lasting Impact from a Single Infection: RSV has no cure. Furthermore, there are high risk of repeated infections that will cause long-term respiratory damage to children that may last up to 10 years.
With each dose of RSV immunisation priced at several thousand Hong Kong dollars,
our residential home is required to bear the full cost of procurement.
