The HKSPC “Nurturing Children Together for Tomorrow” Conference
The HKSPC “Nurturing Children Together for Tomorrow” Conference successfully concluded on 8 May 2026, attracting over 360 participants, including childcare practitioners, social workers, teachers and parents.   The conference explored the applications of technological innovations and its impacts on early childhood development. A total of 15 esteemed scholars and industry leaders shared insights on how to equip children with the skills and resilience needed to thrive in a future shaped by Artificial Intelligence (AI) and other emerging challenges.   The Opening session featured welcome remarks by Mr Vincent Lee, Chairman of the HKSPC Executive Committee, followed by opening remarks by Mr Chris Sun, JP, Secretary for Labour and Welfare of the HKSAR. In his address, Chairman Lee highlighted that 2026 marks the HKSPC’s centenary, a milestone that reflected its transformation from providing basic care for infants and young children to delivering a comprehensive continuum of services. He reaffirmed that child safeguarding has remained at the core of the HKSPC’s mission over the past century.   Lee said, “The conference theme closely aligns with the Hong Kong Government’s latest AI policy direction, which positions AI as a key future industry and promotes ‘AI+’ integration across sectors. Caregivers play a vital role in guiding children to use technology to broaden their horizons. At the same time, we advocate for the thoughtful and balanced use of technology in parenting, with the aim of fostering closer, healthier parent–child relationships.”   The event provided valuable networking opportunities, facilitating professional exchange and meaningful cross-sector collaboration among participants. HKSPC will continue to promote cross-sector collaboration to enhance early childhood wellbeing and create a joyful, safe and supportive environment for children in Hong Kong.
