Service Overview

Children’s Residential Home is a residential crèche for children under 3 years of age in Hong Kong. Our team of registered child care workers, nurses and social workers provide round-the-clock care for children who cannot be properly taken care of by their families and referred to us by social workers and Social Welfare Department. We are also the only centre in Hong Kong offering 24-hour occasional residential care service to babies under the age of 2 for families with urgent needs.

Scope of Service

Short/Long-term Placement

Short-term placement can be 3 months at most and long-term placement can take care of the child until the age of 3. Cases must be referred by social workers from Social Welfare Department, Medical Social Services Units or other non-governmental organisations through the Central Referral System for Residential Child Care Services.

Emergency Placement

Emergency placement provides emergency backup care service for families for 6 weeks at most. Cases must be referred by social workers from Social Welfare Department, Medical Social Services Units or other non-governmental organisations. Social workers may contact Children’s Residential Home for details in office hours.

Enrolment and Withdrawal of Service

Enrolment

  • Medical evidence should be obtained from a registered medical practitioner showing the baby’s health condition is suitable for accommodation.
  • The parent should agree with the referral and sign the enrolment documents.
  • The social worker should come along with the parent or obtain the parent’s authorization to complete the enrolment procedures and sign the related documents.

Withdrawal

  • Parent who would like to withdraw from the service (except for cases under care/protection order) should request the referral social worker to submit a discharge application to the Children’s Resident Home before he/she can pick up the child.
